Salvation
We believe that
Jesus Christ, God in a human body, paid the full penalty for man’s sin when He
died on the cross and shed His Blood and then rose from the dead. Any person who in simple faith trusts in
risen Christ as his only hope of heaven, refusing to trust in anything else,
such as religious works, behavior, trying to live a good moral life, etc., but
trusting in Christ alone, receives the free gift of eternal life, which
once received, can never be lost. (John 5:24)
It is Eternal Life…not probationary life. Eternal is forever.
Probationary depends upon our behavior and performance and could end at
any moment. We believe that salvation
is a free gift that we simply must receive as we realize our lost condition as
a sinner before a Holy God. With this
sorrow for our sinful condition, we now realize that Jesus can save us. This change in our thinking…this
realization…is called Repentance. (2 Cor. 7:10) With this realization, we must simply call upon the Lord Jesus
Christ to save us with child-like faith.
God promises in Romans 10:13 if we do that…we shall be saved or
‘born-again’! No acts of obedience,
preceding or following faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, must be added as
conditions for receiving this free gift or as proof to others that genuine
salvation has occurred or not.
