BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF HAROLD B. HEAD

PASTOR HAROLD B. HEAD, born January 24, 1922 in Macon County, Illinois. Parents-Father, Dr. Floyd Head, ordained Southern Baptist minister, and Mother, Sylvia.

Age 16 Licensed in SBC Ministries, won scholarship to Oklahoma Baptist University, Pastor of “Mud College” Baptist Missionary.

Age 19 Ordained 1939 SBC.

1940 Pastor of Wolf Creek Baptist Church, Stillwell, Ohio and missionary of Church Riley Chapel

1941 Elected moderator of the Coshockton Ohio Group of Church Association.

1942 Married Reva Beal. Called to Switz City First Baptist Church.

1943 Went to the First Baptist Church of Sandborn. Preached the Association Message ate Wilson Creek Church, Monroe City, IN. Building Pastor of new brick church at Sandborn.

1944 Called to West Grand Ave. Baptist Church, Decatur, IL. (built new brick church in 1948) Founding Pastor of Summitt Ave. Baptist Church, Decatur, IL. Founder and director of Decaturland “Youth for Christ” 4 ½ years. Resigned church and YFC to go in full time Evangelism. Recommended as Evangelist, by John R. Rice (Sword of the Lord, newspaper). Made headquarters in Petersburg, IN.

1949 Built first drive-in church in Evansville, out on Diamond Ave. and held revivals at Bethel Baptist (now Bethel Temple) for 21 days, Rockport, Hatfield, Princeton (Bethel Memorial), Bethel Memorial in Mt. Carmel, IL, Hymera, Shoals, Algiers, Anderson Chapel Church (Oris Cox was saved)…rented Mrs. Salter’s building on N. 6th St.

1950 Founded Gospel Center Baptist

BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF STEVE FREDERICK

PASTOR STEVE FREDERICK was born in 1956 to Don and Maebelle Frederick. He is the oldest of 5 children, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Steve has lived in Petersburg all of his life, attending Bowman Country school thru the first three grades and finishing the remaining school years at Petersburg. During his childhood he was taken to church faithfully by his mother and sat at the feet of Pastor Harold Head, learning all he could.

1974 Graduated at Petersburg, the last graduating class at Old Petersburg High School. After High School, went to Purdue University to Pharmacy School. While at college felt the definite call to the ministry.

1979 Ordained to the ministry at Gospel Center along with Tim Young and David Key. Married the former Lisa Willis, daughter of Gardner and Dixie Willis, from Petersburg. Served as Youth Pastor for 7 years.

1987 Called to Loogootee, IN. to become Pastor of Loogootee Baptist Temple, which was meeting in a store front building with under 20 people. Was here until church grew to about 65 in attendance.

1995 Pastor Bill Cato of Gospel Center was retiring. Candidated and was selected as Pastor of Gospel Center.

1996 February 13, 1996, first Sunday as Pastor of Gospel Center. The church has grown steadily since then.

Pastor Steve and Lisa have 3 children, Chelsey, Casey, and Cody.
