Discipleship and Growth
The ultimate goal
of the Holy Spirit’s work in the believer’s life after we’re saved is to make
us more like Jesus as reflected in our behavior, attitude, and obedience. This discipleship is known in theological circles
as Progressive sanctification. All
during our lifetime as we study the Bible and obey it, the Holy Spirit is
trying to get us to the point where Jesus is not only our Savior, but LORD of
our life as well. Every Believer will
eventually be just like Jesus someday…when we get to heaven. (Romans 8:29)
We oppose the
Unscriptural teaching known as LORDSHIP SALVATION, which takes the conditions
of discipleship mentioned above and make them conditions of salvation!
We believe that those
who would describe the method of salvation as we outlined above as ‘EASY
BELIEVISM’ or ‘CHEAP GRACE’ are mistaken and Biblically confused. We believe that those who would use such
expressions such as “You cannot receive Jesus Christ as Savior without
receiving Him as Lord,” or, “If Jesus Christ is not Lord of your life, then you
are not saved,” do not fully understand the Bible’s plan of salvation and are
in error. (Ephesians 2:8, 9)
