'An Independent Baptist Church' THIS WE BELIEVE ABOUT HEAVENWe believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to life eternal because they have done the ‘good’ thing of trusting Christ as Saviour...and the unsaved to judgment and eternal punishment because they have done the ‘bad’ and ‘evil’ thing of rejecting Christ as Saviour. (John 5:29) At the moment of death, the believer is escorted by angels (Luke 16:22) IMMEDIATELY to heaven. (2 Cor. 5:8) This believer will receive a temporary heavenly body which will resemble the way we looked on earth (Luke 16:20-25). That temporary body will be kept until the rapture occurs. At the rapture, those believers in heaven with their ‘temporary’ bodies will come back with Jesus in the air and they will be reunited with their earthly bodies from the graves (1 Thess. 4:13 -17) This is when those earthly bodies will be transformed in the twinkling of an eye (1 Cor. 15:50-55) into our final heavenly bodies. Heaven is a real place where Jesus is now (Acts 1:11) and it is where our departed loved ones are too if they have accepted Jesus as their Saviour. We believe that this current heaven is somewhere in the universe as the Bible says ‘in the sides of the north’, but the final heaven will be headquartered on this renovated earth. (2 Peter 3:10) Heaven is a place of paradise (Luke 23:43) so glorious that human words cannot describe (2 Cor. 12:3,4), with streets of gold! In fact the whole city is pure gold (Rev. 21:18) with many wonderful mansions. (John 14: 1-6) It will be a place of wonderful joy, with no unpleasant thing. (Rev. 21:4) There will be no sorrow, pain, death, sickness, or suffering. There will be no darkness. Heaven will be a holy place where there is no sin or no evil. (Psa. 20:6). It will be a place of wonderful music (Rev. 14:2, 15:2) There will be horses in heaven (Rev. 19:14) at least, if not other animals as well. There will be a wonderful river (Rev. 22:1) and trees (Rev. 22:5). The Blood of Jesus will be there (Heb.12:24) and everyone will be LIKE Jesus Christ! (1 John 3:2). We will recognize each other. (Luke 16:23) Heaven will be a place of worship (Rev. 4:8-11), but it will also be a place of wonderful service as we serve our Lord Jesus Christ. (Rev. 22:3, Rev. 7:15) for all eternity. |
